WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 25, 2016) — Nancy Pelosi and her Washington friends’ nasty attacks on Congressman Mica have backfired according to a new poll released today.
The poll shows the more than $3 million spent in this campaign attacking Mica have had little effect in the race as Congressman Mica leads his opponent by nine points, nearly double the margin of error, 49.78 percent to 40.55 percent, with 9.47 percent undecided.
“Central Floridians are rejecting this attempt to buy their votes by using extreme scare tactics and advertising that is filled with deception and lies,” said campaign spokesman Alan Byrd. “This community knows Mica as the hardest working elected official in the region, as someone who has built this community, focuses on serving his constituents and leads on issues on transportation and veterans. No amount of money can tarnish his record.”
The poll reached out to 412 likely voters through live phone calls October 20-23 and included multiple negative questions about both candidates. No automated were used in this poll. The demographic breakdown matched voting demographics for the district. The margin of error was 4.86 percent.
