Rep. Mica Receives U. S. Chamber of Commerce “Spirit of Enterprise” Award

US Chamber Spirit of Enterprise Award for John Mica

U.S. Representative John L Mica (R-Winter Park) received the U. S. Chamber of Commerce “Spirit of Enterprise” award today at the July Good Morning Seminole breakfast meeting of the Seminole Regional Chamber of Commerce where he was the featured speaker before a crowd of 200.

Mica received the award for his better than 80% voting record on key Chamber of Commerce issues in 2009. In presenting the award, U.S. Chamber representative Moore Hallmark praised Mica’s support of pro-business issues and said Rep. Mica’s cumulative voting record during his congressional career is 92%.

Rep. Mica was also endorsed for re-election by the U. S. Chamber. In a letter to Mica from Chamber President Tom Donohue, he cited Mica’s support for legislation that encourages economic growth, job creation, and a less intrusive federal government as key factors in the endorsement.

In receiving the award and endorsement, Rep. Mica said he was pleased to have the Chamber’s support, noting that he did break with the Chamber’s position in voting against the Stimulus legislation.
